Peace and Joy Foundation fosters real-time online community. One of the most fulfilling aspects of being in a community is the joy that is mutually felt when you champion, support and encourage one another. The “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape” features offers subscribers in the community a way to showcase a hero or heroine in their own lives. When you know someone challenged by circumstances or themselves is persevering in their wellness goals and/or spiritual practices, nominate them.
We all know that keeping track of your goals, and being self-motivated is hard – especially when it feels like no one is noticing your efforts. As a community, we want to champion each other, and recognize that it truly is hard sometimes to stay self-motivated, and be grateful.
Moreover, celebration is a spiritual practice that we value and want to celebrate what is good in each of our lives. “The joy of the Lord is my strength,” (Nehemiah 8:10) and what better way to practice the fruit of joy than by celebrating?! This section will serve as a mini party every month, a place where we will get to honor our friends with online “shout-outs.”
Celebration engages with the practice of gratitude. In biblical times, celebration was required in the form of feasts and festivals. In our own times, we know that there is joy that comes from celebrating what is good.
Celebrating other people makes it hard to think about bitterness and jealousy because in the family of God a win for one is a win for all. Celebration and gratitude is the antidote to bitterness and unforgiveness. Joy is contagious. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that science supports that when we celebrate we release endorphins such as serotonin and dopamine.
